They provide effective pain relief for pains in your joints, muscle pain and sprains from sports injuries (or from sitting at your desk too long), and those occasional aches, sprains and body pains we all get!

But what is Voltaren Emulgel? Voltaren Emulgel is good for those who suffer occasional body pain, or are looking for pain relief from acute pain flare ups. It relieves pain, fights inflammation and swelling, and speeds recovery. The Emulgel can be applied directly to the painful muscle or joint, and thanks to the Emulgel technology, specifically formulated to penetrate the skin, getting deep into the point of pain. Our advanced Voltaren Emulgel 12 Hour, provides effective pain relief for up to 12 hours.

How to use

Always use Voltaren Emulgel exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist or nurse has told you.

Do not share medicines prescribed for you with any other person.

For adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.

Apply Voltaren Emulgel 3 to 4 times a day on the painful area.

How to apply Voltaren Emulgel:

  • To remove the seal before first use, unscrew and remove the cap. Use the reverse side of the cap to insert, twist and remove the seal from the tube.
  • Gently rub a small amount of Voltaren Emulgel into the skin where you have pain or swelling. The amount needed will vary depending upon the size of the painful or swollen area. Usually, an amount ranging in size from a cherry to a walnut will be sufficient. You may notice a slight cooling effect when you rub the gel.
  • Wash your hands after rubbing in Voltaren Emulgel, unless of course they are the site being treated.

How long should you use Voltaren Emulgel:

  • Do not use Voltaren Emulgel for more than 2 weeks for muscle and joints injuries (e.g. sprains, strains, bruises) or tendonitis, or 3 weeks for arthritis pain, unless longer treatment is recommended by a doctor.
  • If the pain and swelling do not improve within 7 days, or if they get worse, tell your doctor.

How much Voltaren Emulgel 12 Hour to use

For adults and adolescents 14 years and over.

  • Apply the gel 2 times a day (preferably morning and evening) on the painful area.

How to apply Voltaren Emulgel 12 Hour Gel

  1. To remove the seal before first use, unscrew and remove the cap. Use the reverse side of the cap to insert, twist and remove the seal from the tube.
  2. Gently squeeze out a small amount of gel from the tube and apply to the painful or swollen area, slowly rubbing into the skin. The amount needed will vary depending upon the size of the painful or swollen area; an amount ranging in size from a 1 penny to a 2 pence piece will usually be sufficient (2–4g). You may notice a slight cooling effect when you rub the gel in. Only use the smallest amount of Voltaren Emulgel 12 Hour needed to relieve your pain but never use more than 8g per day and 56g in one week.
  3. Unless the hands are the site being treated, wash your hands after rubbing in the gel, to avoid accidental contact with the mouth and eyes.

How long to use Voltaren Emulgel 12 Hour for

Do not use Voltaren Emulgel 12 Hour for more than 7 days unless longer treatment is recommended by a doctor.

If the pain and swelling do not improve within 7 days, or if they get worse, tell your doctor.

In children aged 14 years and over, if this product is required for more than 7 days for pain relief or if the symptoms worsen the patient/parents of the adolescent is/are advised to consult a doctor
